Ozoklenz Recognised in Julius Rutherfoord’s 2025 ESG Report

We’re excited to share that Ozoklenz has been featured in Julius Rutherfoord & Co’s 2025 ESG Report, recognised for its potential to help transform traditional cleaning into a more sustainable, chemical-free process.

For Summit Hygiene and the Ozoklenz team, this recognition is another important step forward, showing how industry leaders are rethinking their approach to cleaning and choosing innovation that supports their long-term environmental goals.

A shift towards sustainable cleaning

Julius Rutherfoord & Co have long been recognised for their commitment to responsible facilities management. Their 2025 ESG Report highlights the introduction of new technologies that directly support their environmental and social values, and Ozoklenz plays a key part in that journey.

In the report, they note that trials of Ozoklenz began in 2024, describing it as:

“A revolutionary, planet-friendly cleaning system that replaces all harmful chemical cleaners with the natural power of ozone.”

As organisations face increasing pressure to reduce their environmental footprint, Julius Rutherfoord & Co are leading by example, exploring solutions that deliver measurable results without compromising on hygiene or safety.

What is Ozoklenz?

Ozoklenz is Summit Hygiene’s chemical-free cleaning system, designed to replace up to 90% of traditional cleaning chemicals. The technology produces aqueous ozone, a powerful, all-purpose cleaner created directly on site using only oxygen, electricity, and tap water.

By eliminating the need for chemical concentrates, plastic containers, and transportation, Ozoklenz offers a sustainable alternative that reduces waste, emissions, and operational complexity, while maintaining exceptional hygiene performance.

How it works

Ozoklenz takes inspiration from nature. During a lightning storm, ozone is formed when oxygen in the air is charged with electricity. Ozoklenz replicates this same natural process in a controlled way inside a wall-mounted unit.

  1. Oxygen is drawn from the air.
  2. It’s charged with electricity to create ozone (O₃).
  3. The ozone is then infused into water, forming aqueous ozone, a safe and highly effective cleaning solution often referred to as “nature’s disinfectant.”

The result is a chemical-free cleaner that can sanitise, deodorise, and disinfect across a wide range of applications. When the job is done, the solution naturally reverts back to oxygen and water, leaving no residue or environmental impact.

Why aqueous ozone?

Aqueous ozone is one of the most powerful oxidisers known to science, effective against bacteria, viruses, mould, and odours. But what makes it truly unique is its sustainability profile.

Unlike conventional cleaning products, aqueous ozone:

  • Requires no chemical manufacturing or transportation.
  • Produces zero packaging waste.
  • Leaves no harmful residues.
  • Reduces Scope 3 emissions by generating the solution directly at the point of use.

For teams and clients alike, it means safer cleaning, simplified logistics, and a measurable reduction in environmental impact.

Sustainability benefits recognised by Julius Rutherfoord & Co

Julius Rutherfoord & Co’s 2025 ESG Report highlights how Ozoklenz supports their sustainability ambitions:

“The system produces a powerful, chemical-free disinfectant on site, using only ionised water and electricity, removing the need for harmful cleaning chemicals and significantly reducing packaging waste. Because the solution is generated directly at the point of use, it also eliminates the carbon emissions associated with product transport and distribution.”

They also note that if successfully adopted, Ozoklenz could support the reduction of Scope 3 emissions across both their own operations and those of their clients, further helping to minimise single-use plastics within the business.

A step towards a cleaner future

Being included in Julius Rutherfoord & Co’s ESG Report reflects a shared belief that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand. It demonstrates that innovation isn’t just about new technology — it’s about creating solutions that make cleaning safer, simpler, and more sustainable for everyone.

As more organisations commit to achieving their ESG goals, Ozoklenz will continue to support the transition to a chemical-free future, helping businesses across the UK and beyond reduce environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene.
